ISO LIFE AND THE NEW NORMAL (FOR NOW...)

What a world we are living in at the moment! Some of us are working from home, or homeschooling, or both! In addition this new normal is keeping us at home and we’re unable to see our family and friends. To say that we might be feeling the pressure and stress may be an understatement!

Stress is an unavoidable part of everyday life regardless of the situation. It is important that you focus on what you can control, rather than what you cannot. I KNOW, big call, sometimes easier said than done! However, stress can have a extreme effect on our overall health & wellbeing.

One way to combat the stress is through exercise. Not only can exercise make changes to your body, both inside and out, but also it has been proven in clinical trials to help treat anxiety disorders and clinical depression. It has a unique capacity to exhilarate and relax, to provide stimulation and calm, to counter depression and dissipate stress. (Exercising to relax - Harvard Health, 2018)

When we exercise we reduce our stress hormones (adrenaline & cortisol) & stimulate our feel good hormones (endorphins).

So while we are stuck at home during these unprecedented times it is important to focus on what IS in your control. Create a daily routine such as walking, morning or afternoon, whatever suits you best, body weight exercises if you don’t have equipment.
