Writer's pictureBooty By Me

real talk.

Over the last month, 3 out of the 4 weeks my training has been on point, my nutrition has not and that was evident in my results as part of my maintenance phase (diet break).

Whilst there are lot of external factors as to why I haven't achieved my desired short-term goal, the main one being not reaching my set macros and over-estimating my portion sizes, most importantly protein (to keep you fuller for longer). Granted I have travelled for work during this time, had many social events to attend and lack of preparation has led me to where I currently am.

It just goes to shows how important nutrition and training go hand in hand, people sometimes focus too much on the training but there are other aspects outside of training, that can affect your results.

Since last month I have gained 1% body fat, my initial instinct is to worry that my body fat (BF) % has increased however through my training I have come to realise that this is just a number. If this was a year ago I would be losing my mind at the increase and would start a cut ASAP.

Don't get me wrong, I still go through battles in my mind as to wether or not I should start cutting however, my next goal is to gain muscle mass and therefore this is best achieved through a bulk phase. I now have to mentally prepare myself that during this bulking phase I will be gaining not only muscle but also fat.

As females, when we see that we have put on weight our minds default to LOSE LOSE LOSE, a combination of an innate feeling and environmental. We have been programmed that there is one ideal type of body. In saying that, over the last few years we have taken massive strides to promote a healthy body image. Us females, we're a strong bunch!
